End-of-year reset: reflect, realign and step into who you want to be

As we move toward the end of the year, I’ve been feeling that familiar pull. The one that gently reminds us we've drifted from the habits, routines and intentions that make us feel our best and to pause, slow down, and reflect on where we are.
This season always brings a mix of reflection and anticipation, and after a busy year of full-time work, motherhood, and building Her Sweet Chaos, I’ve realised just how much I need a end-of-year reset of my own.
Nothing dramatic, just a thoughtful, gentle realignment.
So I’m taking myself through a simple, grounding process to reset and step confidently into the new year, and I’d love for you to come along.
Here’s how I’ll be doing it:
Step 1: Honest Self-Reflection
Before making any plans for the new year, take a moment to look back. Not with pressure or judgement, but with curiosity.
What supported me this year?
Where did I stretch myself too thin?
What habits made me feel good, and which ones slipped away?
This part sets the tone for everything else. It creates awareness, clarity, and a sense of direction. I recently worked through my own reflections and shared them in a post on Instagram, because reflection is where real, meaningful change begins.

Step 2: Reset Your Home
Because a clear mind starts with a clear space.
I’m not doing a full house purge or a Pinterest-perfect makeover. Instead, my focus is on resetting the spaces I use daily:
The kitchen
The bedroom
The bathroom
My daughter’s spaces
The study
The gym
Small resets make a big difference. It might be clearing out the pantry, decluttering one drawer, or refreshing the bedside table. This is all about creating calm corners that support the version of yourself you're stepping into.
My post on Decluttering Your Space and Mind will guide you through this process step by step.
Step 3: Reorganise Your Digital Space
This is the part I procrastinate on, but desperately need to action.
My camera roll, files, emails, desktop, and notes app all need a reset of their own. I’ll be:
Backing up photos and clearing out my phone
Clearing my inbox
Organising folders
Resetting my digital organisation system
A chaotic digital space can lead to feeling overwhelmed and reduce productivity. Clearing it feels like a fresh start in itself.
Step 4: Get Clear on What Matters Most
Once my physical and digital environments feel organised, I can shift my focus inward.
This step is all about clarity, understanding your priorities for the season you're in right now. If your priorities look different than they used to, that’s okay.
Ask yourself:
What do you want more of?
What do you want less of?
What habits help you feel like your best self?
What do you want to be working toward in the year ahead?
This is where your goals start to take shape.
Step 5: Create Your Vision for the New Year
One of my favourite steps in my yearly reset — creating a vision board.
Your vision board is not just for aesthetics, but to create a visual guide and reminder for where you're heading. For me, this includes:
Words of the year
Inspiring quotes
The energy I want next year to feel like
The habits I want to nurture
The projects I want to start
The experiences I want more of
The woman I want to become

Step 6: Set Realistic Goals & Build a Plan
The final part of this reset is turning all of the above into something actionable.
Not a long list of unrealistic goals, but intentional, aligned plans that feel achievale in everyday life.
My Yearly Planning and Goal Setting, Organising Your Life for Success and Goal Setting Amid the Chaos blog posts are the perfect guides to walks you through the process.
The aim isn’t perfection, it's about building consistency and taking small steps daily.
